I've finally come out of my PAX-induced haze and I'm ready to give you guys some of the cool stuff I got at the convention!
First up are two Mega-Blocks Halofest micro figures. If you have a kid who is into Halo, chances are you are already familiar with these tiny guys. They are "blind" collectibles, meaning that you don't know exactly what you're getting until you open it. Some of the figures are rare while others are more common. This is like kid crack. The collectible nature, the association with Halo, and the ability to use them in the related Halo building sets has made them extremely popular with Nate and his friends.
This year PAX had an entire expo hall devoted to Halo. The game is celebrating its tenth anniversary and Halofest was setup to celebrate it. There were panels, demos and giveaways, all Halo related. Mega Blocks had a huge presence at Halofest, and their giveaways were some of the most coveted at all of PAX. On top of giving away the micro figures, each morning they gave away a limited edition Halofest vehicle building set. There is no way I'm prying that out of Nate's hands for a giveaway, but I did manage to score a couple of my own micro figures to give away!
I have a Halo CE UNSC Spartan and a Halo CE Convenant Elite to give away. These are limited edition Halofest versions of the figures and each comes with a Halofest brick to set it on. They're pretty cool.
To enter the giveaway leave a comment in the space below telling me why you or your kids love Halo or Megablocks. I will choose two winners at random on September 8th at noon Pacific Time, each will receive one of the micro figures.

My son isn't quite old enough to play Halo but these Halo Mega Bloks will be a perfect way I can introduce him into the Halo universe.
ReplyDeleteI just tweeted as well since I'm so excited at a chance to get one of these figures!!
ReplyDeleteWhoops... My first post didn't get posted. What I originally said...
ReplyDeleteI've been a huge Halo fan since day one and even a huge fan of the Mega Blok line of Halo toys for over a year now. I sadly wasn't able to attend PAX but I am really excited about any chance to get any of the swag they gave out. :D

ReplyDeleteI love Halo because it has brought many people into my life. I remember staying up late to play with my Xbox Live buddies and working together in the game but still having fun conversations. Years later, we're all still friends, some have kids, some are married. It's awesome to see how something so small can branch out friendships like this.

I love Halo. My kids love Mega-Blocks. I think they'll eventually love Halo too.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if my 3 Month-old Baby girls will like them.. but I will display them proudly in my cubicle!
ReplyDeleteHalo has been one of the most inspiring storys I have ever indulged in. The dark parts like Johns abduction make you feel the pain of the story. It's so much more than a video game. Would love to add one of these to my collection.
ReplyDeleteI love Halo because it's amazing. It's as simple as that. I'd be cliched to say that it's changed my life for the better or something bleeding-heart like that, so I'll just say this... Halo quickly became a central focus of my life. When I finish my homework, I hop on Halo. When I come home from play practice, I play Halo. It's like that. It's been like that for a long time now.
ReplyDeleteI just have fun on it; that's all. I enjoy not only playing it, but reading about the universe and discussing it with people as infatuated as I am. I love Halo.
My son would love those! he really loves playing halo whenever he's not in school.

ReplyDeleteI love Halo because of the story. It draws you in and does not let go for a second. When my child is old enough I am going ot bring him into the Halo fold.
ReplyDeleteI retweeted your tweet about competition being light. Does that count as a tweet?
ReplyDeleteI love Halo because it has such a rich and thrilling universe behind it. The fact that I can build the figures using megablocks is all the better.

My seven year old son and I enjoy Halo as one of the few "normal" activities that we can both participate in. You see, my son is profoundly autistic, and has very little language capability or comprehension. He has a hard time with social interaction, and normal kid games are either astoundingly easy for him, or disproportionately hard, depending on whether they're action or dialogue heavy. Halo provides him with an action oriented outlet that he can share with his peers, and a place where he actually has the advantage in skill. Families that game together stay together, and we're a mother-son team that will last for life!
ReplyDeleteI love everything Halo and my kids do too, except they aren't allowed to play it yet. SO this is the best of both worlds, they can play with Halo toys AND use their imaginations!
ReplyDeleteI am a fervent Halo addict, and I love Mega Blocks. I'm not going to fudge this up, I've said everything I need to.
ReplyDeleteIm our little town me and my nephew are the authority on everything halo and he would love it
ReplyDeleteI own every Halo game & book and used to be a lego kid! But my loyalty lies with mega blox especially if they continue to make awesome halo toys! If elected president I will... Wait wrong speech. I would be forever greatful for some #haloswag
ReplyDeleteI love Halo simply because of the story. The expanded universe stuff is Great, and the game's stories really are works of art.

ReplyDeleteHuge Halo fan here, about to take the plunge into Halo fiction!
ReplyDeleteTweeting it up.
ReplyDeleteI love Halo because it is the Star Wars of this age. Iconic characters, epic battle for survival against overwhelming odds, immersive universe, believe-able science fiction technology, etc. No other series in recent decades has been given the care and attention to detail that Bungie and 343i has given Halo. Halo is so much more than a game. The expanded fiction makes Halo feel epic in scale.

ReplyDeleteThe two 10yr boys I have at my house love Halo megabloks. They lay out their creations in huge epic battles across the living room floor. Their favorite thing to do is to play red versus blue teams.
ReplyDeleteI stopped in at Halofest but somehow missed picking up the figures. As a physical product I still prefer Lego, but Halo inspires the imagination too.
ReplyDeleteI am an absolute Halo fan. Played all the games so far, love the story and the Universe and so I am somewhat obsessed of Halo.(But it's so dang awesome and fun!) I haven't gotten anything (Halo)MegaBloks yet and would love it if I could get my hands on something like this!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the contest and a big congrats to the winners!
